C.R.E.A.M:

A CAREER FAIR FOR MORE THAN JUST SURVIVAL

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF A CAREER FAIR EMBRACED THE SPIRIT OF A BLOCK PARTY? What if you could network, explore new career paths, and leave a lasting positive impression on potential employers, all while remaining true to yourself and free from the pressure to perform?

In a deliberate effort to challenge hiring biases and confront escalating disparities in employment opportunities and wages, C.R.E.A.M. centers those marginalized by their race, class, sex, gender, sexuality, or the intersections of these identities. While our innovative and completely free career fair is open to all, we strive to create an environment where QTBIPOC (Queer & Trans, Black & Indigenous, People of Color), particularly those who have experienced prior incarceration and/or other systemic challenges, feel especially welcome.

To help foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere that refutes respectability politics,  C.R.E.A.M. 's only rule is a strict “no suits” policy. Vendors, volunteers, panelists, and future new-hires alike are all encouraged to dress as brightly as Ayana will be. If your closet is severely lacking in neon, custom t-shirts will be provided. The departure from customary business-formal career fair attire ensures anyone who might not have access to such clothing can still enjoy all the advantages of a traditional career fair, with all the fun of a cookout.

2022-2023

C.R.E.A.M.’s first and second iterations, hosted by Brooklyn’s historic Weeksville Heritage Center, had everything from resume workshops, group mediations, and diverse panelists across disciplines.
